Jewel was born and raised in Barbados, an island in the Caribbean. It looks like a tropical garden surrounded by the sea. She moved to New York in her early twenties and a few months later was calling Altamonte Springs, Florida her home.
She started off working in the family owned jewelry business when she was a teenager, she then moved onto working in the Design field for the next 30 years.
One of Jewel’s most memorable projects was a complete Kitchen remodel where she used Diamond Cabinetry in the Intrigue line. This project involved removing a large wall in the kitchen and adding an island to give the client a more open concept in the kitchen. What Jewel loved most about this project was how happy the client was throughout the remodeling process. The client took pictures in various stages and posted the pictures on Facebook to capture his journey. When the project was completed, the client invited his neighbors over to see the finished product. The client was impressed that the kitchen looked identical to the 20/20 drawing. This project ended up on Pinterest and was featured in the Diamond Cabinetry web page.
Jewel finds inspiration in almost everything, from patterns and colors to different eras and nature. Jewel says that the clients themselves give her inspiration for her designs.
In her free time, Jewel likes to hang out with her family. She loves the beach, pool, ride her bike, reading, and walking the family dog, Roscoe. Jewel loves nature, it energizes her and calms her at the same time.
