lindsey_norman_beforeOne more room - the kitchen was the last room these homeowners had to renovate.  And it was one of their favorite places to gather, with views on two sides of the Banana River just a few feet away.  They wanted a classic look with a bit of a beach/waterfront flair and added space for entertaining.
The homeowners had been remodeling the 70's era home for the past few years on their own. By now they were old hands at the ins and outs of demolition, electrical and plumbing.  They were ready to work hard on their own, they just needed a plan.
Lindsey Schwartz, of S&W Kitchens, came in to help on the design and finishes side.  "The one thing they wanted to keep was the half bathroom in the laundry area - and it was the one thing they needed to let go." Opening the laundry room and removing the soffits, however, gave them the kitchen of their dreams:  a huge family and entertaining space!

The soffits were removed, along with the sink and toilet in laundry room, and a hall closet that became a new pantry and bar area.  The customers were very involved in every aspect of the renovation.  They did their own construction or subcontracted it to workers they had used in the rest of the house.

The transformation is beautiful!  The kitchen is filled with light; the homeowners had purchased the tumbled stone backsplash tile and porcelain flooring years before.  Lindsey added the blue glass inserts for the flair they were looking for.  Traditional dark cabinets by Omega Dynasty in the Bancroft door style of cherry wood with a cherry sage stain and an Onyx glaze bring in comfort and warmth.

The smaller laundry room also got a makeover.  The cabinets Lindsey used were Omega Dynasty Renner in maple wood painted oyster.
Organization was key to the plan for both rooms.  The laundry room needed organization to fit a place to land backpacks, a second refrigerator and a stacked washer/dryer.  It all fits perfectly in half the space.

A few other modern organizing touches for the kitchen cabinets and they were ready to relax in their new space.
