Happy Birthday, Internet!

Today marks the 25th year of the creation of the World Wide Web, created on March 12th, 1989 by Sir Tim Berners-Lee.  Today on the Diane Rehm show  NPR, the guests reflected on our global society and how cultures experience the immersion of life on the web in their daily activities.    “The World Wide Web turns 25 today. In a little over two decades, the Web has revolutionized the way we communicate, do business, access entertainment and share information. To mark the occasion, we look to the future, when experts say the Internet will become like electricity, permeating our lives and raising questions about privacy, security and even the nature of reality.” (TheDianeRehmShow.org)

KBIS 2014 - from Brooke Eversoll

describe the image

This year KBIS was in Las Vegas, the city of lights.    My favorite part was a tour of 3 penthouses located in the Mandarin Oriental on the Vegas strip.  We visited 3 units on the 43rd, 46th, and 47th floors.  The units overlooked the lights for some of the best views of the city.  Corner windows where glass came together at a sharp angle, brought us up close and personal to the view.   Floor to ceiling windows bringing us eye level with the sky.

A wise woman once told me 'Beauty is painful!', which, she went on to explain, meant that to achieve beauty for more than mere seconds takes a lot of work.

Kitchen Design, Floor Plans and Designers

This is a good article on home design:  10 Floor Plan Mistakes And How To Avoid Them In Your Home from freshome.com.  It highlights just how difficult it can be for people to envision their living space.  Flat, two-dimensional architect plans are difficult for the un-trained to see as three-dimensional spaces.  Often the reality is very different - smaller, larger, awkward or even impossible sometimes for actual construction!

Inspiration, Colors and Kitchen & Bath Remodeling

Beautiful photo

There are many ways to get lost in the ether these days - social networking, gaming or just browsing.  If you are planning a remodeling project, you can be a little more focused:  using Pinterest or Evernote or some other app to keep notes on what you like or don't like, grabbing images to sort through later or what appliances you need.

Addicted!  I cannot get enough of it!  Every time I try to pull away, they suck me back in!  I'm talking about the gaggle of renovation shows currently running on TV, led primarily by HGTV and it's sister channel, DIY Network.
