Technology in your Kitchen

What will they come up with next?  Probably in your lifetime you've been told that in the future we'll all have cars that drive themselves or fly or or robots that will keep your home spotlessly clean.  Sadly, none of these magical futures have come true... yet.  Still, the pace of technology in our lifetimes has been staggering on many levels.

2013 Kitchen Renovation Trends

kitchen trends wordle

The flurry of "2013 Trend" lists is finally slowing and in an effort to digest and summarize the current kitchen trends as seen by the taste-makers of today I mashed about ten of the articles together to see what a word cloud of all of them would look like.  With just a bit of judicious editing, here it is:

Family Kitchen

1943 Norman Rockwell (1)

The Holidays = Family & Friends = Food.  Really, nothing makes the Holidays (whatever you celebrate) special like family and friends.  And there really is no better way to celebrate than with food.  Whether it's super casual and easy with delivery pizza and beer or a full Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings, the time people spend together over food is always memorable.

NKBA - National Kitchen and Bath Association Event 11/18/10

NKBA EventSeven designers from S & W Kitchen attended the recent NKBA event in Altamonte Springs, at the Cranes Roost outdoor Amphitheater.
The National Kitchen and Bath Association held its bi-monthly meeting November 18th, as two local experts spoke about “Green design practices” and “Elevating Kitchen design to fine art”
“It is important to us to have our designers attend these events.” Said Brian Cummings President of S & W Kitchens. “By attending these educational events our designers are better able to serve our client base”
Cummings went on to state that as clients are becoming more and more involved in the design and selection process, the knowledge gained during these events are invaluable to the design staff.
“Our design staff had on average 15 years experience. That longevity shows a real dedication to the profession and a passion for client satisfaction” Cummings said.
The NKBA is the only trade organization in the industry. As a non-profit group it is the leading resource for training and education of kitchen and bath professionals.

A Customer from 1979

S & W Kitchens label from 1979

S & W Kitchens recently went out to a customers house for an estimate on Cabinet Refacing.  We started the project and when we removed the countertops we discovered this label dating back to the original installation of the cabinets.   The sticker is the original cabinet mfg. shipping label and is dated March 27th 1979 which is when we installed this kitchen.   The current refacing customer was looking for a fresh new look, but was comforatble with the cabinet boxes, drawers, and interiors which were as strong as the day we installed them.     The cabinet brand Quakermaid, was our flagship brand 30 years ago and we were proud to discover that 30 years after installation the kitchen was still in fine shape.   Simply in need of a facelift.   Another example of why S & W Kitchens is a company with a reputation for quality that you can  trust.   Weve been here for 32 years and will be here for at least another 32.

It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places late last year.
